The County Tournament
The annual 'County Tournament' is the tradition of the Bay County Golf Course. An amateur tournament that started in 1922 and has been held at the Bay County Golf Course every year since 1968. The golf course prides itself in this event. We feel like this tournament is the closest event most will get to playing in the Big Time. With galleries and sign bearers your adrenaline is sure to flow when you step on that first tee. The tournament is broken down into 5 flights determined by handicaps and brings out the best players in the County.
The County Tournament is held the first FULL weekend of August. This 36 hole Amateur stroke play tournament is a summer classic! See Links below.
2021 APPLICATION FORMS:
Spring Scramble

2014 Winners: No Tournament
The Spring Scramble is a 3 person Scramble that was implemented in 2010. It was designed to get the kinks out at the beginning of the year. The 1st annual had 21 teams and was a very competitive tournament. Ou goal is to get all level of players out to have a good time and win some prizes!
As with our other scrambles we use multiple tee markers determined on your age.The idea was to level the playing field from those flat belly kids who hit it 300 yards. Men played from the BLUE tees (set all the way back!), Seniors 50 - 64 years old played from the WHITE tees, while women and seniors 65 -older played from the RED/GOLD tees.

Tough Hole Scramble

2014 Winners: Joe King - Scott DeWyse - Jerry Kukla
The 'Tough Hole' Scramble is a 3 person event held during the month of September. The tournament began in 2007 and is becoming a staple of our tournament schedule. The 'Tough Hole' is making pin placements as difficult as the hole cutter can make them. (The Hole Cutter shall remain nameless for the sake of his/her safety.) Closest to the pin challenges and a long drive and optional skins game is available.
This format uses multiple tee markers. The idea was to level the playing field from those kids who hit 10 miles (Nick Spencer and Scott Miller). Men played from the BLUE tees (set all the way back!), Seniors 50-64 years old played from the WHITE tees, while women and seniors 65-older played from the RED/GOLD tees. Come out and create some good memories, maybe some bad, but a guaranteed good time with friends.

Member Match Play

2014 Winner: Tony Hages
The Member Match Play now in its second season sparked some interest this season. It's a season long event where each match has a 2 week time frame to complete their match, with the winner moving on.We wanted to add a fresh event to our tournament schedule and give our members a chance to battle it out with each other in a favorite format of Match Play.
Now don't think that one member with a plus 1 handicap is going to run away with this tournament. Every player is given a legitimate handicap to level the playing field. Another twist is any member 50 years and older play from the white tees while those young studs play from the blues.
We had an exciting tournament this year with a lot of good matches and close calls. Congratulations to Ron Marande on winning the event over defending champion John Goik. Come on Members let's get our their and test you match play!

Fall "BIG" Hole Scramble

2014 - 1st flight winners:Gene Rhode - Joe King - Jim Deaton & Greg Stutelberg - Mark Pienoiak - John Gregus
2014 - 2nd flight winners: Ron Marande - Don Walsh - Gary Pobanz
The 'Fall Scramble' was modified from a 2 person event to a 3 person 8 inch BIG Hole scramble. Something new to the area the BIG holes make actually make putting "fun". If you have never experienced playing on BIG holes you have to give it a try. This is something that we will continue to build on in the years to come. The holes are put in at the beginning of the weekend for regular play and the weekend is capped off by the scramble.
It is an end of the year event that began in the fall of 2007. An event that has been well represented the 'Fall Scramble' has showcased some very good golf. The event has closest to the pin challenges, a long drive challenge, and an optional skins game as well.
As with the 'Tough Hole' the 'Fall Scramble' uses various tee markers for the event.Men played from the BLUE tees (set all the way back!), Seniors 50 - 64 years old played from the WHITE tees, while women and seniors 65 -older played from the REDGOLD tees. We continue to look at ways to build the event to ensure a larger field every year. Bring out a partner and get signed up for 2012!
