2010 Senior County Tournament

Well...the 2010 Senior County Tournament proved to be a successful event again under the new format that was added 3 years ago.  We had quite the battles out there for the five different age groups.

Just as our Men's tournament is divided into flights, our Senior tournament is divided into age groups.  The groups consist of 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70-older.  A champion is determined from each age group.  However, we still have our traditional overall champion who wins a golf membership for the following season.  To ensure all age groups compete at a level playing field the 50-54 and the 55-59 age groups play from the blue tees.  Ages 60-64 and the 65-69 played from the white tees.  While the 70-older age groups play from the gold tees.

With a lot of good shots and even better stories the overall champion came out of the 55-59 year age group.  The following are this year's Champions:

2010 Senior County Champions.....Terry Horner.....Rick Webb.....Tom Rezler.....Joe King.....Gene Rhode

2010 OVERALL SENIOR CHAMPION

 Senior Age 55-59 County Champion

Terry Horner

Round 171  (-1)

Round 2  70  (-2)

TOTAL  141  (-3)

Terry Horner played 2 great rounds of golf and to sneak out overall Senior Champion by one shot over Tom Rezler.  Terry's final round of 2 under par 70 solidified his win.  This is Terry's first Senior Title, but if he continues to play that well I would expect some more down the road.  Great Job Terry!

Rick Webb bounced back after the Men's County to win his first Senior Title.  Rick is a steady player and his game proved that this weekend.  Now that Rick is able to play in the Senior event I think he will be one of the big names in years to come.  Great job Rick!

Joe ran the tables in his final round firing a 3 under 69 and winning his age group by 6 shots.  Joe has been a contender every year he participates.  Joe was the overall champion back in 2007 and was not far behind on making a run this year.  I expect Joe to always be hanging out around the winner's circle.  Nice Job Joe!

Gene beats out Jack LeSage for the Championship once again.  This time he managed to do it by four shots in large part to his final round 70.  Never count Gene out of any tournament or round of golf for that matter.  With his laid back and honest attitude and his knowledge of the rules Gene will compete in any event he plays in.  Great Job!

Views from the Senior Championship.....

(Left) Jack LeSage poses for a pic standing on the 6th green.  Jack made a run at the 70 and older age division only to finish in second place for the second straight year.

(Right)  Ben Blissett puts a nice move on his drive off of #10 during his first round of play.  Ben is a past champion of this event.

Did you know the Senior Event added 2 age groups in 2007; 50-54 and 50-59?

(Left) Bob Katt knocks his drive down the middle on number 14 during the senior tournament.

(Right) Fred Kotewa (alias FBI) takes the driver back and crushes one on #10.  Fred is known for his golfing prowess and his work in the garden.  Those pickles are great!

Did you know the Senior Tournament uses all 3 sets of tee markers to level off the playing field?

(Left)  Gene Rhode lines up a putt on the final round of the senior tournament while Jack LeSage and Stan Harwood look on.

(Left)  Gerald Schroeder hits his tee ball off of #1.  Look how on plane he has that driver.  Had to hit it right down the middle!

A Special Thank You goes out to all participants for this year's event. The new format continues to be a success and we strive to build this tournament year in and year out.  Hope to see all of you next season.

Happy Golfing,
