Community Center Pool 2022
Due to a Lifeguard Shortage – The Bay County Community Center Pool will not be open to the general public for public swim this summer 2022.
PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE NO SWIM LESSONS OR POOL PARTIES!
The Bay County Community Center Pool will not be open for public swim this season. Due the extreme shortage of lifeguards, we were unable to hire enough lifeguards to safely open the pool to public use. This issue has affected many public pools nationwide.
“It is with great sadness that we must close the pool to public use this summer due to staffing shortages, stated Cristen Gignac, Director of Recreation & Facilities for Bay County. The safety of our patrons is our number one priority. Decisions like these are hard, but necessary, when public safety is at the forefront.”
The Bay County Community Center Pool will remain open for use by contracted swim teams not requiring lifeguards. Bay County plans to hire all the certified lifeguards that applied to allow our summer recreation campers to swim in small groups as part of our program.
