Check Your Trees for Hemlock Woolly Adelgid
It's time to check trees for Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (another
invasive pest that kills trees)
The Michigan DNR reminds Michigan land owners that November and
December are the best time of year for them and the Gypsy Moth
Suppression Program to check trees for Hemlock Wooly Adelgid (HWA). HWA
is a federally listed invasive species that kills Hemlock trees. It has
been found in southwest Michigan and could be moving into Bay County. It
is one of those “other non-native pests” that the Gypsy Moth Suppression
Program staff look for in the fall when we are out in the field checking trees
for Gypsy Moth egg masses. For more information on HWA, follow the link
