Bay County Adds Clinic Dates, Reminds Residents of Importance of Vaccination Before July 4th Holiday

Bay County, Michigan - The Bay County Health Department is adding vaccination clinic dates and reminds local residents of the importance of being vaccinated against COVID-19, especially with the onset of the July 4th Holiday which is less than two and a half weeks away and with the Governor’s office announcing that most Coronavirus restrictions are ending on June 22.

In addition to its regularly scheduled clinic dates, the Health Department is adding a special clinic at its location (1200 Washington Avenue, Bay City) on Saturday June 19, from 9:00 am to noon.

Additionally, the Health Department will be partnering with Molina Health Care and adding clinics at South Baptist Church (located on the corner of Broadway and Cass Avenue in Bay City) on Thursday, June 24 from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple (located on the corner of Madison and Center Avenue in Bay City) on Saturday, June 26th from 9:00 am to noon. Persons who receive a vaccine from these two clinics will receive a free shaved ice from Kona Ice and a free pass to the Bay City Fireworks.

All clinics feature walk-in appointments, and both the Pfizer vaccine and Johnson and Johnson vaccine will be made available for those who wish to be vaccinated. “While cases are thankfully low at this point, we still have over 40% of the adult population that has not even received one vaccine,” said Health Officer Joel Strasz. “Spikes in cases have accompanied most of the major holidays since the beginning of the pandemic. With the Delta (Indian) variant  looming to spread, the best bet is to get vaccinated right away. If you have only received one dose of Pfizer vaccine and are due for your second dose, you can be fully protected by July 4th if you get your second dose vaccine by this Saturday. If you are an adult, and haven’t received any vaccine yet, you can be fully vaccinated if you get a Johnson and Johnson vaccine by this Saturday.”

Please do your part and help minimize the spread of COVID-19. For the latest and most accurate information regarding the COVID-19 please go to the Bay County Health Department website at https://www.baycounty-mi.gov/Health/COVID19/.
