Bay County Treasurer Fee Waiver

Bay County, Michigan - In an effort to continue to provide excellent service and reduce or slow the spread of COVID-19, Bay County Treasurer Shawna Walraven has waived fees on credit and debit card transactions. Normally a 3% processing fee is charged upon credit or debit card transactions and paid directly to the processor. Starting immediately the 3% fee will be waived until further notice. Credit or debit card payments can be made over the phone or via the website. The waiver of the fee is intended to encourage people to call or use the website rather than visit in person.

A newly opened drop box is another option for payments to be made at the Madison Ave. entrance between the doors of the Bay County Building. The Bay County Building is located at 515 Center Ave., Bay City, MI 48708. The drop box is a secure option for payments to be deposited 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“My biggest concern is that we are able to make it efficient, convenient and simple for our taxpayers to make payments. I am also concerned for the safety of our customers and employees and I am taking the advice to reduce public traffic seriously,” Walraven said.

Taxpayers are encouraged to call or visit the website rather than visit in-person. Payments can be mailed, made over the phone or online. Staff will be able to complete nearly all transactions through these methods. The Bay County Treasurer’s Office can be reached at (989) 895-4285 or www.baycounty-mi.gov/Treasurer.
