MISSION:
To provide for mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery from natural and human-made disasters within Bay County.
Emergency Management is a Division that coordinates Bay County’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management programs. The role of the Emergency Management Division is to mitigate, prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies and disasters in order to save lives, protect the public’s health, safety and property within Bay County.
No matter what the size and scope all disasters are local. In most instances disasters are responded to without the assistance of state or federal assets. The Emergency Management Division provides leadership in coordinating the development of a sustainable all-hazard, regional approach to large-scale emergencies or disasters. The Emergency Management Division emphasizes an integrated process for establishing preventative measures, emergency operations, planning and training to minimize the impact of catastrophic events on the people, property, environment and economy of Bay County.

Bay County has implemented BAY Alerts, an emergency mass notification system used to contact County residents via phone messages, text messages and/or e-mail messages in case of emergency. BAY Alerts is used by Bay County 9-1-1 to notify residents of emergencies or critical situations and provide information regarding necessary actions, such as evacuation and shelter-in-place. |
