September Ash Tree Inventory Evaluation for Emerald Ash Borers (EAB)

Bay County Gypsy Moth Suppression Program September Ash Tree Inventory Evaluation for Emerald Ash Borers (EAB)

September is Ash Tree Inventory Month for Bay County Gypsy Moth Suppression Staff. Approximately 3,000 Ash Trees will be measured and evaluated throughout Bay County that are protected from Emerald Ash Borers (EAB) through treatment provided by the Gypsy Moth Suppression Program. All trees in the EAB Treatment Program are located on public lands such as parks and green spaces.

Each Ash Tree in the program receives injection treatment once every three years, which comes out to about 1,000 trees being treated each year in the rotation. The vast majority of treated Ash Trees continue to grow and provide many benefits to our community such as improving air quality, supplying oxygen, shade, reducing storm water run-off and enhancing property values.

For more information about the September Ash Tree Inventory and the value of trees, please contact Alicia Wallace at 989-895-4195 or at Wallace@baycounty.net.
