Health Department Holds Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event - June 3, 2016

BAY CITY, Mich., May 19, 2016 - The Bay County Health Department will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Friday, June 3rd from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Bay County Fairgrounds, 800 Livingston Ave, Bay City, MI 48708. This event is by appointment only; we also will need a list of items that are to be brought.

The free collection is intended for homeowners in Bay County, and not local businesses. Materials that can be disposed of on collection day are household products such as leftover household cleaners, household chemicals, and oil based paint products. For a complete list of disposable items, please visit the Bay County Health Department’s Environmental Health webpage.

For those without internet access, please contact the Environmental Health Division at (989) 895-4006, press option 3, for information regarding disposable items. Residents must schedule an appointment and have a list of items for Household Hazardous Waste Collection by calling the Environmental Health Division for an appointment at (989) 895-4006 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Registration for the event will end Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Residents are urged to dispose of household chemicals safely to prevent unnecessary waste from entering Bay County landfills and to protect our water resources. The collected materials will be properly and safely recycled or disposed of at a licensed hazardous waste disposal facility.
