Bay County TV (BCTV) gets the green light

 Announcement

During the June Bay County Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 2016-134, which encompasses an Action Plan that will restructure and re-band Bay 3-TV to meet the needs of the 21st Century.

The termination as managing partner of Bay 3-TV by the Bay City Public Schools is effective June 30, 2016 and efforts have been on-going since receiving the termination notice to pursue measures to continue programming as requested by the by the Board of Commissioners in January 2016.

Since that time, a small advisory group has been meeting to discuss strategy and formulate a business plan with Bay County acting as managing partner. Various public entities were also contacted in an effort to attract other partners or affiliate members and although no potential partners stepped forward, other municipalities have expressed an interest in receiving services on a fee-based arrangement.

With the passage of this Resolution, Bay 3-TV will be moved from the Bay City Board of Education building to the eighth floor of the Bay County Building where a new studio and training facilities will be established. Bay 3-TV will operate as Bay County TV and continue to cover Bay County Commission meetings and other County events. Bay County Administration will continue to work with the advisory group to further develop the Action Plan as it relates to providing programming for the Bay County community.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the advisory committee or being a volunteer, please contact Bay County TV at (989) 895-4084.
