Bay County Government Offices Closures to the Public

Bay County, Michigan - To exercise additional caution with the coronavirus (COVID-19) and ensure that Bay County can continue to provide essential services through this pandemic, Bay County government offices in the Bay County Building , 515 Center Avenue, Bay City, Michigan, will be closed to the public effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020 until March 31, 2020. This closure to public foot traffic may be extended by the Public Health Officer or County Executive at a future date depending on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic. Citizens are directed to contact the department with which they need to do business by telephone as many services can be handled remotely. The telephone numbers of all County offices may be found on the County’s website located at www.baycounty-mi.gov.

All employees are still expected to report to work as normal.

“As a county with the highest percentage of citizens 60 and better, it is imperative that we take steps to flatten the curve of this pandemic to ensure our health systems don’t get overloaded.” Said County Executive Jim Barcia. This is one step that we can take to help stop the spread of this disease in our community and continue to provide the services that are needed.”

It is imperative that we all do our part to ensure appropriate social distancing and good hygiene to flatten the curve and prevent disease spread such as:

  • Staying home when symptomatic.
  • Frequent hand washing with soap and water.
  • Directing coughing and sneezing into a tissue or elbow.
  • Frequent disinfection of commonly touched surfaces daily
