Forms of elder abuse touch on almost every type of victimization possible. By definition it is any willful mistreatment that results in harm or loss to an older person such as:
- Physical injury to an older person that is not accidental
- Sexual abuse or exploitation
- Domestic violence
- Neglect that leads to harm
- Abandonment
- Mental or emotional anguish inflicted by threat, humiliation, or other conduct
- Stealing or taking advantage of a older person’s finances, property or resources through deceptive means
