The Bay County Housing Department (BCHD) was established in 1983 pursuant to the United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended, to provide decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing to those over the age of 62, handicapped, or disabled.
The BCHD, also known as Center Ridge Arms, was built with funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Center Ridge Arms is a five-story apartment complex comprised of 100, one-bedroom units.
The majority of funding is provided by grants from HUD. These grants assist in covering daily operating costs and in making capital improvements. The balance of income is supplied by rent which is calculated individually for each apartment with re-certifications done annually.
The staff at Center Ridge Arms consists of a director, occupancy specialist, maintenance supervisor, and a part-time custodian.
